DESCRIPTION:Internationally known space journalist and research scientist\, Dr. Ken Kremer\, of Space UpClose\, will present a talk titled “Exploring Mars and the Search for Life in 3D ” at American Space Museum’s celebration of the Annual Smithsonian Magazine “Museum Day ” when many American museums charge no admission. \nDr. Kremer’s presentation is at 1 pm but the museum is open from 10 am to 5 pm for many other activities. Admission on 9/21/19 is FREE! \nOur Saturday event will include…\n\n10 am – Museum Opens.\n11 am – NASA Solar System Ambassador Tyler Hines talks about Artemis Moon Program.\nNoon – Make “straw rockets” and enjoy some Tang drink.\n1 pm – Lecture by Dr. Kremer: “Exploring Mars and the Search for Life in 3D “.\n3 pm – Make a comet with Astro Chef MarQ.\n5 pm – Museum Closes.\n\nALL DAY…\n\nHands-on fun for kids.\nFree tour of our non-profit museum dedicated to American space workers.\n\n(Note: MAP and contact info at bottom of page.) \nHighlights of Dr. Kremer’s Lecture…\n\nAn accomplished rocket launch photojournalist\, Dr. Kremer will talk about his custom-created and widely published spectacular 2-D images of the Martian surface from Mars rovers Curiosity\, Spirit and Opportunity. You will see the NASA versions with supplied 3-D glasses!\nKen is always where the action is when it comes to space exploration and will share some of those experiences… from the New Horizon spacecraft flyby with Dr. Brian May (Queen guitarist and astronomer) to launches at Wallops Island\, Virginia.\nHe will explain the discoveries of NASA’s Curiosity rover and its amazing expedition across the surface and the slopes of a mountain on the Red Planet. He will show his up-close visits with the SUV-size Curiosity in the clean room as well as launch pad photos from the Kennedy Space Center.\nKen will give the audience an up-to-date progress report on NASA’s Commercial Crew launches to the International Space Station and the Artemis Moon landing program.\nHe will display a selection of his Rocket\, Space and Mars imagery for sale.\n\nMore about Dr. Kremer…\n\nAs an acclaimed scientist and space journalist\, Dr. Kremer often appears as an expert space commentator on major national\, international and local TV News outlets.\nHis Mars space imagery and articles have been widely published on TV\, magazines\, books and websites including NBC\, CBS\, BBC\, ABC and Fox News\, PBS NOVA TV\, Scientific American\, NASA\, National Geographic\, SPACE.com\, Spaceflight Now\, Universe Today\, as well as his blog Space UpClose.\nDr. Kremer holds 17 US Patents\, has over 3 dozen scientific publications\, written more than 1000 space articles and has 14 published Astronomy Pictures of the Day.
