DESCRIPTION:American Space Museum and the film’s producers present the world premier of “The Base to Space\,” the incredible story of NASA’s Mobile Launch Platform 2 (MLP-2) for Apollo Saturn V and Space Shuttle. The EVENT includes a “Meet and Greet” with many film characters including astronaut Bruce Melnick\, a Q & A session\, and a post event party. Note that MLP-2 was the last place on Earth touched by Apollo 11 and Shuttle Challenger. \nThe 50-minute film features many of the MLP-2 team members from the past 50 years. Many of these principal film characters will be in attendance including astronaut Bruce Melnick. \nTime and Location: Sunday\, Sept. 25th from 2-5 pm at Hyatt Place Hotel\, Titusville. Her book is available for purchase at the event. \nNicole has explored from the heights of outer space to the depths of our oceans. She painted the first watercolor in space\, which is now on display at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. In awe of what she experienced from these very special vantage points\, she has dedicated her life to sharing the beauty of space ~ and Earth ~ with others.  She believes that sharing these orbital and inner space perspectives has the power to increase everyone’s appreciation of and obligation to care for our home planet and each other. \nA veteran NASA Astronaut\, her experience includes two spaceflights and 104 days living and working in space on both the International Space Station (ISS) and Space Shuttle. \nAs an Artist\, and now retired from NASA\, Nicole combines her artwork and spaceflight experience to inspire creative thinking about solutions to our planetary challenges\, to raise awareness of the surprising interplay between science and art\, and to promote the amazing work being done every day in space to improve life right here on Earth. DESCRIPTION:The annual Astronaut Memorial Ceremony for the 17 crew members of Apollo 1\, Challenger and Columbia who perished in America’s space program will be conducted Saturday\, Jan. 25\, 2020 at 11 am\, at Sand Point Park in Titusville\, Florida. (Map & contacts are below.) \nThe public is invited to attend this reverent and patriotic ceremony that honors the lives and sacrifice made by these pioneers NASA’s manned space program. Keynote speaker will be Mike Leinbach\, former NASA launch director. Mr. Leinbach launched the last 37 Space Shuttles and co-authored the book “Bringing Columbia Home\,” the account of the mammoth undertaking by thousands to find Columbia’s debris in South Texas and Louisiana and bring it home to Kennedy Space Center. \n \nThe ceremony includes patriotic songs\, a host of city and county dignitaries\, participation from the Knights of Columbus\, the Civil Air Patrol\, a 21-gun salute and placement of flowers on the 17 plaques at the park honoring the fallen space travelers.  High school students will place an apple on the plaque commemorating Teacher-in-Space Christa McAuliffe. \nThe beautiful program is hosted by the City of Titusville Flag & Memorial Committee and the American Space Museum. DESCRIPTION:“Animal Astronauts” is the subject for the Jan 18\, 2020 presentation in the “American Space Museum Celebration Series 2020“.\n\n \nCome and learn about the many contributions that animals have made (and continue to make) in the space sciences on Earth and aboard the International Space Station. \n \n– Our event will feature the appearance of a small “owl monkey” to acknowledge the 1961 spaceflight of Mercury’s space chimpanzee Ham. He will appear with wildlife expert Daniel Green. \n– We will share the movie “America’s Animal Astronaut Heroes”. Movie representatives will be on site! \n \n– Our resident photographer will be available to shoot pet portraits with a fun space backdrop. \n– The Brevard Humane Society will partner with us and bring their adoption van. \n– Starting at twilight\, we will feature “Urban Stargazing” from our parking lot with members of the Brevard Astronomical Society with their telescopes (and a wealth of knowledge!) to share. \nCost: Normal Admission.   (Evening Stargazing: Free)\n\nThe “American Space Museum Celebration Series 2020” will connect the public with space workers and authorities on monthly subjects.

DESCRIPTION:FREE ADMISSION and Family Friendly. \nThe museum will host a book signing by NASA rocket man Ike Rigell* and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 12 Moon landing at our Cosmic Christmas Yard Sale. \nThe day will include a table discussion with Grumman Corp. workers who built the Lunar Modules\, an Apollo 12 retrospective by space journalist Dr. Ken Kremer**\, and an update on Project Artemis to the Moon by NASA Solar System Ambassador Tyler Hines.  \n10 am – 5 pm – Yard sale in front parking lot. \n10 am – Museum Opens. You can get a jump on Christmas shopping and browse for those items only ASM has to offer for Space Lovers.  Rigell\, who is age 96\, will autograph his book\, “Ike\,” about his legendary life as a World War II hero and NASA rocket engineer/director.  \n11 am – Panel discussion “Building the Moonship” by retired Grumman workers\, followed by questions and answers from the audience. \n1 pm – Talk by accomplished space journalist Dr. Ken Kremer on the second manned moon landing on Nov. 19\, 1969 by Charles “Pete” Conrad and Alan Bean. \n3 pm – NASA Solar System Ambassador Tyler Hines will be on hand to talk about the new Artemis Moon program. \n5 pm – 8pm – The Brevard Astronomical Society will have telescopes in the back parking lot to view Venus\, Jupiter\, Saturn and the celestial sights of the Autumn constellations. \nThroughout the day there will be family fun with “straw rockets\,” space glove boxes\, docent talks in our galleries and\, of course\, Tang refreshments! \nYou can make it an early  “Black Friday\, Cyber Monday and Tuesday Giving” by supporting our non-profit in the gift shop or at the Cosmic Christmas Yard Sale that will have many space program items like photos that hung in NASA offices as we as all kinds of real space memorabilia.  Plus we have inherited many quality gift shop items from the defunct Cocoa Planetarium\, available at deep discounts.  \n* Ike Rigell is a Marine veteran of World War II\, fighting in the Pacific Rim at all major conflicts. A Georgia Tech engineering graduate\, he joined the Army Ballistic Missile Agency in the 1950s\, which became NASA. Rigell has been at every major American rocket launch—from the first satellite Explorer 1 in 1958 to assistant launch director for the Apollo missions\, through Apollo-Soyuz in 1975\, when he was launch director. His book\, “Ike\, The Memoir or Isom “Ike” Rigell\,” is a tribute to one of the great American heroes in the battlefield of humanity\, driven to preserve the freedom to explore outer space. \n** Dr. Ken Kremer is a research chemist\, space/science journalist\, photographer\, speaker and founder/managing editor of Space UpClose website\, working tirelessly in the media pool reporting all things related to NASA and Space Exploration. Ken is based nearby the Kennedy Space Center in Titusville\, FL.\, active in outreach and interviewed regularly on TV and radio about space topics. Dr. Kremer offers independent analysis about space topics. He lectures about both human spaceflight and robotic spaceflight – specializing in Mars.

DESCRIPTION:Family-friendly and FREE. ** \nThis Mercury transit across the face of the Sun will not happen again until 2032\, so make sure you safely see this 5-hour morning event. Stargazers from Brevard Astronomical Society will safely show you the planet through their special solar telescopes in the museum front parking lot starting at 10 am. The Sun’s first planet will begin cutting across the solar disk beginning at 7:34 am EST\, right after sunrise. Mercury will slowly cross the Sun for five and a half hours\, moving off the disk at 1:04 pm EST. In ratio\, if the Sun is a basketball is size\, Mercury will look like a pea crossing our star. \n** The outside observing is free\, but normal admission will be charged if you wish to tour inside the museum… EXCEPT military veterans will be admitted free.

DESCRIPTION:International Observe the Moon Night  is a worldwide celebration of lunar science and exploration\, celestial observation\, and our cultural and personal connections to the Moon. The American Space Museum will be celebrating all day as well as in the evening. \nOne day each year\, everyone on Earth is invited to observe\, learn about\, and celebrate the Moon together. This event occurs in September or October\, when the Moon is around first quarter – a great phase for evening observing. Furthermore\, the best lunar observing is typically along the Moon’s terminator (the line between night and day) where shadows are the longest\, rather than at full Moon. \nNote:  7 – 10 pm Observe the Moon Night  is FREE. Earlier daytime events require museum admission. (Adults $10\, Sr. & military $8\, Kids 13-18 $5\, 12 & under free. Thank you for supporting our non-profit museum.) \nMoon Day Schedule…\n\n10 am – Museum Opens.
