DESCRIPTION:The American Space Museum presents our FREE educational “Bilingual STEAM* Program” for kids ages 4 – 12 on the first OR second Saturday of each month. The class is free but limited to 15 students. Pre-registration Required. See below.** It will not only teach Space Age concepts\, but employ the Spanish language to the vocabulary of the students in the educational materials. You do NOT need to know Spanish to attend. Students will learn new phrases and terms along with science education. Address and map to our Titusville\, Florida location are at page bottom. \nNatalia Sepúlveda conducts the monthly 10:30 am to noon class with the following themes for 2025… \n\nJan 11th: “Seeing Venus\, Saturn\, Jupiter and Mars from your Backyard!”\nFeb 1: “Animals in Space”\nMarch 1: “Women in Space Month” (Focusing on female engineers)\nRest of 2025: (To be announced.)\n\nOur STEM Calendar will list TOPICS and DATES as they become available for registration.\nSepúlveda is a bilingual educator\, best-selling children’s book author\, translator\, and editor. She’s a Ronald McNair Fellow (Challenger astronaut) with a master’s degree in Spanish from the University of Central Florida in Orlando.  \nShe owns Bilingual Lifestyle Publishing and teaches Spanish in her Bilingual Playgroup at the Brevard County libraries. She has translated and edited over 450 children’s books and educational resources. She also runs a Bilingual Lifestyle blog\, sharing her bilingual family adventures and educational resources. \nNatalia is originally from San Germán\, Puerto Rico\, and lives on the Florida Space Coast with her husband\, Joseph\, and her 3 children. She is passionate about STEAM education\, and enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. \nREGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS\n\n** Pre-registration Required on our Class / Event Registration page. \nClasses are in high demand and often have a waitlist. SUMMARY:2025 Astronaut Memorial Ceremony in Titusville and on YouTube
DESCRIPTION:UPDATE 2/4/2025: The video of the ceremony is now online HERE on American Space Museum’s YouTube channel. \n\nThe annual public Astronaut Memorial Ceremony for the 17 crew members of Apollo 1\, Challenger and Columbia who perished in America’s space program will be on Sunday Jan. 26\, 2025 at 1 pm\, at Sand Point Park in Titusville\, FL. \nShuttle astronaut Andy Allen\, who twice flew Columbia\, will be the keynote speaker.* The public is invited to attend this reverent and patriotic ceremony that honors the lives and sacrifice made by these pioneers of NASA’s manned space program. (Map & contacts are below.) \nAmerican Space Museum’s YouTube channel will carry this ceremony for later playback. \nThe ceremony includes a keynote address\, patriotic songs\, a host of city and county dignitaries\, cadets of the Civil Air Patrol\, a 21-gun salute and placement of flowers on the 17 plaques at the park honoring the fallen space travelers. \nThe annual remembrance is hosted by the City of Titusville Flag & Memorial Committee and the American Space Museum.  The Titusville Garden Club provides the flowers for this honorable ceremony. \nInformal Reception After Ceremony at Museum\nAfterwards\, those attending the ceremony are invited to an informal reception from 3-4 pm at the American Space Museum\, 308 Pine Street on southbound US 1\, in downtown Titusville. For more information\, contact Mark Marquette marq@americanspacemuseum.org or 321-264-0434. \nThose being remembered and the day they gave their ultimate sacrifice for America are…\nApollo 1\, Jan. 27\, 1967: Commander Virgil “Gus” Grissom a Mercury and Gemini veteran\, Ed White\, the first American to walk in space\, and Roger Chaffee; \nChallenger STS-51L\, Jan. 28\, 1986: Commander Dick Scobee\, Pilot Mike Smith\, Mission specialists Judy Resnick\, Ellison Onizuka\, Greg Jarvis\, Ron McNair and first true civilian and teacher in space Christa McAuliffe; \nColumbia STS-107\, Feb. 1\, 2003: Rick D. Husband\, William C. “Willie” McCool\, David M. Brown\, Laurel Clark\, Kalpana Chawla\, Michael Anderson and Ilan Ramon. \n* Keynote speaker\, astronaut Andy Allen\, is from Richboro\, Pennsylvania and has 38 days in Earth orbit as Space Shuttle pilot or commander on three missions in the 1990s. Allen received his commission in the United States Marine Corps at Villanova University in 1977\, and became a Top Gun aviator.
