Free Museum Day featuring Dr. Ken Kremer’s “Exploring Mars and the Search for Life in 3D” presentation

Internationally known space journalist and research scientist, Dr. Ken Kremer, of Space UpClose, will present a talk titled “Exploring Mars and the Search for Life in 3D ” at American Space Museum’s celebration of the Annual Smithsonian Magazine “Museum Day ” when many American museums charge no admission.
Dr. Kremer’s presentation is at 1 pm but the museum is open from 10 am to 5 pm for many other activities. Admission on 9/21/19 is FREE!
Our Saturday event will include…
- 10 am – Museum Opens.
- 11 am – NASA Solar System Ambassador Tyler Hines talks about Artemis Moon Program.
- Noon – Make “straw rockets” and enjoy some Tang drink.
- 1 pm – Lecture by Dr. Kremer: “Exploring Mars and the Search for Life in 3D “.
- 3 pm – Make a comet with Astro Chef MarQ.
- 5 pm – Museum Closes.
ALL DAY…
- Hands-on fun for kids.
- Free tour of our non-profit museum dedicated to American space workers.

Highlights of Dr. Kremer’s Lecture…
- An accomplished rocket launch photojournalist, Dr. Kremer will talk about his custom-created and widely published spectacular 2-D images of the Martian surface from Mars rovers Curiosity, Spirit and Opportunity. You will see the NASA versions with supplied 3-D glasses!
- Ken is always where the action is when it comes to space exploration and will share some of those experiences… from the New Horizon spacecraft flyby with Dr. Brian May (Queen guitarist and astronomer) to launches at Wallops Island, Virginia.
- He will explain the discoveries of NASA’s Curiosity rover and its amazing expedition across the surface and the slopes of a mountain on the Red Planet. He will show his up-close visits with the SUV-size Curiosity in the clean room as well as launch pad photos from the Kennedy Space Center.
- Ken will give the audience an up-to-date progress report on NASA’s Commercial Crew launches to the International Space Station and the Artemis Moon landing program.
- He will display a selection of his Rocket, Space and Mars imagery for sale.
