The birthplace of America’s Civil Rights Movement

Attend this event, just four miles from ASM’s location in Downtown Titusville, and learn why the Moore Cultural Center is the birthplace of America’s Civil Rights Movement, just as the American Space Museum represents the birth of the Space Age.

Civil rights activists and school teachers Harry and Harriette Moore were murdered by racists on Christmas night 1951 by a bomb that destroyed their home. They are the first and only Black couple killed in America’s 70-year Civil Rights movement.

The Moore Cultural Center Museum in Mims, Florida is the site of this heinous act, where the family home has been recreated around an informative museum and beautiful park, built by Brevard County.

There will also be a special announcement from the great-grandson of the Moores, Darren Pagan.
