Tara Dixon Engel is a former journalist and marketing executive who has worked extensively with non-profit organizations over the past two decades.
She is the former Director of Research and Strategic Planning for the National Aviation Hall of Fame. She also served as Vice President of the American Veterans Institute and Executive Director for the Downtown Tipp City Partnership.
As co-owner of Integrity Marketing & Communications, she provided consulting services for non-profits, developing strategic plans and fundraising strategies for such organizations as Historic WACO Airfield, the National Military History Center, the Early Ford V-8 Museum, the American Veterans Heritage Center and numerous others. She appeared on four seasons of the PBS and Discovery series Legends of Airpower, and she is the author of four commercially published books: Naked In DaNang, The Wright Brothers: First in Flight, Neil Armstrong: One Giant Leap for Mankind, and, most recently, The Handgun Guide for Women.
Tara and her husband, John Falldorf, moved to Florida in May of 2015 to “escape the Ohio winters” and to be closer to Tara’s sister, a long-time Cocoa Beach resident. She began volunteering at the Space Walk of Fame Museum in June and was hired as Executive Director in September 2015.
Karan Conklin is a lifelong Titusville resident with a history of community involvement. She served as a volunteer at Jess Parrish Hospital, tutored 8th grade algebra and writing students at Jackson Middle School, and participated in the 2nd and 3rd grade reading programs at Coquina Elementary. She became a volunteer at the U. S. Space Walk of Fame in 2001 and has been employed with the museum since 2003.
Karan has been the Chairman for the Titusville Area Visitor Council and a member of the Board of Directors of the Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce, both for two consecutive terms.
She served on the Board for the Titusville Main Street Association, as a member of the Titusville Flag and Memorial Committee, on the Titusville Governmental Affairs Committee as well as serving as a member of the Titusville Merchants Association and is a member in good standing with the Titusville Toastmasters.
She has been active in the Greater Titusville Renaissance and was one of the first artists involved with the StoneFire Studio and Gallery. Karan has won “Best in Show” for her photographic trilogy and has sold her pottery at local venues. With her husband Mark, she co-owns Karan & Company LLC, a custom cabinetry manufacturing, and kitchen and bath installation company located in Titusville serving the Space Coast and Orlando areas.
